Collection: Luang Phor Koon Parissuddho: The Master of Wat Ban Rai
Discover the sacred legacy of Luang Phor Koon Parissuddho (1923–2015), the legendary "Saint of the Northeast" and one of the most iconic figures in Thai Buddhist history. Based at Wat Ban Rai in Nakhon Ratchasima, Luang Phor Koon was a master of both profound Vipassana meditation and ancient esoteric sciences (Wicha).
A Life of Asceticism and Monkhood
Ordained at the age of 21 (May 5, 1944), Luang Phor Koon dedicated over 70 years to the Sangha. He was a practitioner of the Thudong tradition—the rigorous forest asceticism where monks wander remote wildernesses to conquer the mind. His journey took him through the deep jungles of Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia, where he lived in isolation, braving the elements to master his spiritual discipline.
During these years, he studied under great masters like Luang Phor Daeng and Luang Phor Khong, inheriting rare lineages of Buddhist knowledge that combined mindfulness with protective energy.
The Power of His Wicha
Luang Phor Koon was world-renowned for his Wicha (supernatural arts/sciences). He was particularly famous for:
-
Takrut Insertion: In his early years, he was legendary for his skill in "gold needle" insertions—small, blessed scrolls (Takrut) placed under the skin for protection.
-
Metta Mahaniyom & Maha Lap: His blessings were sought after by everyone from common farmers to the Thai Royal Family, believed to bring great mercy, popularity, and "Chok Dee" (good fortune) to those who held his artifacts.
-
Protection (Klaew Klaad): Countless stories exist of devotees surviving impossible odds, crediting their safety to the powerful consecrations of Luang Phor Koon.
A Living Legend of Humility
Despite the billions of Baht that flowed through his temple, Luang Phor Koon remained a model of simplicity. He was famously known for his "squatting" posture—a sign of his absolute humility and accessibility to the common people. He gave everything away, funding the construction of hospitals, colleges, and infrastructure across Thailand, proving that his "Wicha" was rooted in the highest form of Buddhist compassion (Metta).
