Phra Kruba Krissana Intawanno: The Master of the Butterfly King

Phra Kruba Krissana Intawanno (born August 1, 1954 / B.E. 2497) is one of Thailand’s most renowned contemporary Guru Monks, celebrated globally for his unique artistic approach to spirituality and his mastery of ancient "Wicha" (occult sciences). As the 9th of 10 children, his spiritual journey began under the guidance of Kruba Pu, whom he followed on "Tudong" (forest pilgrimage) through the remote jungles of Cambodia and Laos.

The Monastic Journey

At the age of 25, he received his full Bhikkhu ordination on October 27, 1979 (B.E. 2522), taking the monastic name "Intawanno." He spent the next decade in deep meditation and solitary practice within the forests of Northern Thailand, refining his mind power and studying sacred Buddhist texts.

In 1989 (B.E. 2532), Kruba Krissana resided in a cave above the Moonbon Dam in Khonburi. His reputation for holiness grew so quickly that local villagers pleaded with him to establish a permanent monastery. This led to the founding of Wat Pa Mahawan, a forest temple built through the collective devotion and physical labor of the local community.

The Legend of the King of Butterfly

Kruba Krissana is the pioneer of the "Thep Jamleng Pamora" (King of Butterfly) amulets. While they appear as beautiful butterflies, they are deeply symbolic representations:

Divine Union: The design reflects a mirrored pair of Salika (Heavenly Birds) or an abstract depiction of the eternal union between Lord Shiva and Parvati (Mae Uma).

Sacred Materials: Each piece is crafted from a "Muan Sarn" of 108 types of flower pollens, holy herbs, and forest earth, giving them a distinct, long-lasting fragrance that has become a hallmark of his work.

Natural Energy: He is famous for embedding blessed gemstones and hand-inscribed Takruts into his amulets, believing that cleansed natural stones amplify the wearer's luck, charm (Metta Mahaniyom), and interpersonal harmony.

Legacy and Authenticity

Known as an artist-monk, Kruba Krissana often paints and signs his amulets personally, making each authentic piece a rare spiritual artifact. His teachings and amulets have reached millions across Asia and the West, focused on the principles of Metta (Loving-Kindness) and the transformative power of faith. Today, he continues his mission of "spreading the Dhamma through beauty," using the proceeds from his amulets to fund the construction of temples and hospitals throughout Thailand.
